Lilly’s Lightbox Company brought the lost beauty of old valve radio’s back into people’s consciousness when it launched last year. Having done some more exploring in my family’s attic back in Berlin, I came across a stunning honey coloured valve radio from 1958 made in my motherland, the former East Germany. This lightboxes magnifies the scale of this old valve radio which showed all the cities around the globe we, as children could still tune into to hear the voices of the world from behind the Berlin Wall.
