Fairytales Illuminated: Brothers Grimm and the Light in the Dark

Citing the German concept of ostalgie – a term referring to nostalgia for elements of life in the old East Germany - she has now sought to reinterpret those memories with a new collection of lightboxes which create a subtle and atmospheric light with vintage charm.

The lightboxes are made from period chests of drawers from the 1880 – 1950s, carefully restored and matched to handmade photo slides, which encapsulate images and thoughts that appear to float in glass.

Each light box is an illuminated poetic composition, reminiscent of times past, at the same time playful, haunting and dreamy.
